verylisa: More retro album covers

01. 02. 03. 04.

05. 06. 07. 08.

09. 10. 11. 12.

01. Whipped Cream and Other Delights by Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass! My Dad had that album. I don't remember much liking the music at the time, but I feel a strange hankering to listen to it now.

04. The tiny text is from the original, and says: "LIBERTINES IN BETWEENS AND VILLAGE QUEENS" and "PSYCHOTICS NEUROTICS AND WHACKED OUT EROTICS". That cover has twenty little boxes, every one a riot.

10. is a snippet of Bettie Page from the cover of an album called The Best Musical Comedy Songs. Now I'm plagued by thoughts of Bettie Page and Benny Hill together.

12. Lyric from the Style Council's "Speak Like a Child" ... "all day thinking about you; all night coming to terms with it".

I've finally switched to PNG format after doing icons as JPEGs (and occasional GIFs) for just about ever. At some point bandwidth becomes cheap enough that the extra prettyfulness of PNG is worth the larger filesize. For me, that point is now.

ihavemeaning: i'd like to preside over your icon fan club

Hi. These icon all rawk like boulders cascading down a steep hill in the middle of an earthquake. You are my favorite icon creator.

I took #s 01, 05 - 08, 10, and 11.

You are very good at supplying amazing icons.

I mean, you make icons that are sexy, and then ones that are ironic & retro. When you made the cute animals sing icon, I knew it was time for me to declare my adoration once more. What's not to love?

Some source images are so fabulous that they make it super easy. I am kind of tempted to make more icons from the Hear the Animals Sing source because every part of that cover is beautiful. (It's in the "oi" icon as well.) The subtitle on the cover is:

"Real Animals Sing
& other Animal Songs"

That's one wacky labour of love, right there. Especially considering they didn't have Fairlights or other such techie toys to do all the pitch shifting automatically.

Holy crap! I am so taking the Herb Alpert and I have to tell you you made my day. That album has a bizarre but significant meaning to me.

Have you tried googling for more info about it? I didn't realise it was such a big phenomenon. There have been some fabulous tribute/parody versions too, including the guy from Soul Asylum covered in clam dip.
